OEM alarms are ok but are prone to things like relay attacks: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relay_attack

Aftermarket alarms, using their own code hoping remotes, are not prone to replay attacks.

You are also free to add a telematics like the EVO-START-LTE for tracking of the vehicle and being notified of any intrusions. https://www.evo-start.ca/en/products/evo-start-lte

if i activate do i need a scan tool to disable factory alarm?? also how does using fortins remotes work to prevent replay attacks if u still need factory key fob to start car??
No scan tool needed, the oem alarm stays active.

Fortin remotes cannot be prone to relay attacks.
I understand that about fortin nit being prone but can fortin remotes be used instead of factory key fob or do u need factory key fob in order to start the ignition??? If i still need the key factory key fob to be active  how does the fortin remote prevent attacks as the factory key has to be used.
