Ignition 1 vs. Ignition 2

0 votes

My vehicle (2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited) has "Ignition 1" and "Ignition 2" wires according to your charts. I connected the Evo-All unit (as a stand-alone) to the white ignition 1 wire as per your diagrams. My unit is flahsed to version 79.10 as suggested in a previous question thread.

When attempting to start the vehicle (lock, lock, lock), the vehicle only turns on to accessory or on (does not completely start the vehicle).

My question is, can I connect to the ignition 2 wire (light blue) instead? I don't need to get into all of the technical stuff as I'm not a professional installer. I just would like to know, before paying a pro to do this simple connection swap, if it could easily be the solution to my problem without causing something else.

I have check each of my connections to ensure they are good and tight (no wire taps, straight connections directly to the wire and taped) so I know it is not simply a loose connection somewhere.

I had no issues programming my unit.

Thanks.

Hi Sean,

First things first, It doesn't matter if you use ignition 1 or 2. You need to make sure to enable stand alone mode and hybrid mode in the EVO-ALL options list. Second, take your ground when running wire from the EVO-ALL and ground it. What happens when you do this? Also you may want to play around with a few versions namely 79.00, 79.03, 79.04 and 79.09. Remember, when swapping versions always do a master reset of the EVO-ALL. This will avoid different bits of data to corrupt the EVO-ALL. You can perform a master reset by holding down the program button, plug in your power and release on the red Led. Once red, you hold down the program button for roughly 7 seconds and all your Led's will flash, then your module is reset. Then relearn your transponder on the EVO, and go back and turn on option 15 and 18 after the master reset. If your still having problems with your install don't hesitate to call our tech support line 1-877-336-7797. We are open 8am to 6pm eastern time on week days and 9am-5pm on Saturdays.

Thank you for your response Anthony.

I purchased the unit already flashed for my specific vehicle and have verified online that all the correct options have been selected (12, 15 and 18). Initially, it was flahsed with version 79.05 but I was told by Fortin that it should be updated to 79.10. As I don't have the Flash-Link (additional $70), I paid a local company $15 to do this update for me. Because of all of this, I am hesitant to do a master reset if that will mean I will need to reflash it again... (assuming I uderstood you correctly).

I noticed in the 2010+ wiring guide you suggest the Ignition 2 wire instead of 1 on mine. If you say that shouldn't matter, perhaps swapping them may resolve this issue? I know NOT to jumper both of them together.

The company I bought the unit from (online) has offered to exchange the unit thinking there is maybe an issue with the unit itself. Should I do that? It would cost me the shipping to return it.

I do realize looking back that I should have perhaps just sucked up the expense and paid a professional to do the job, but I have invested this much time and money already that the point is somewhat mute.

As the guide didn't say to connect the GWR wire, I didn't but I will try that as well.

Again, thank you.
