2010 Corolla dot key EVO-ONE programmed but no response from factory remote

Installed evo-one in 2010 toyota corolla with dot key. Module programmed ok but does not appear to receive command from factory remote 3X lock command to start. Do I have all the appropriate options turned on/off for the bypass/remote start? Is there something else I need to check?

Your vehicle is not listed to work with 3x lock I don't think it can detect the lock command from the factory remote. Does the blue light flash on your module when pressing lock on the factory remote ?

If not, you will need a seperate RF kit to start the car.

When using the seperate rf unit, am I only using it to tell the evo-one unit to start the car, or am I going to use it as the remote start unit? In other words, can I use the rf remote unit only to signal the evo-one work just as if I were using it with the 3X lock function?

I found the guide on linking the evo-one to rf remotes. At the bottom of those directions, it has how to program evo-one to remote. Will this work to program the evo-one to see the the factory remote?

factory remote detection is done through Can-Bus. It would either work, or not work. There is no procedure like the one you mention that programs the OEM remotes to the unit.

I purchased an Audiovox Prestige model aps-901e remote start to use with the evo-one. This unit does not have the Idata link connection to simply plug it into the evo one. What wire(s) do I need to hook up between the rf unit and the evo-one so the rf unit will activate the evo-one remote start?

Update on the audiovox rf install with evo-one. I first used the evo-one/audivox install directions. On my first attempt I left all the connections to the evo-one as is from the 19291 guide and connected the data link connector to the data module outlet on the audiovox unit and the data link antenna outlet on the evo-one per the instructions. I would not get a response from the rf unit. I then changed one end of the data link cable so I could plug it into the telematic outlet of the rf unit. Still no response from the rf unit. I then hooked up the 12v and ground for the rf unit thinking it needed its own power supply to operate. When I hooked the wiring up to the evo-one during programing, I had a fuse blow in the auto.

At this point, I decided to just hook up the rf unit to act as the remote start and use the evo-one as a bypass only.  I used the install directions per the evo-all guide 3315 connection 1 and no data link. Using programming procedure 1, I am able to program the evo-one.

When I activate the rf remote starter, I do not get any response from the evo-one.  I checked to make sure the GWR wire going from the remote start unit to the evo-one is providing ground as it should and it is function properly. I have the audivox unit installed to function as the remote start and it seems to be functioning properly. It was able to learn the tach and the car cranks but no start. I need some help on where to go from here. Does the evo-one need to be wired differently than the evo-all would be? Is it a problem with the options turned on/off? Will the evo-one function in this type of install or do I need to get an evo-all? Or am I completely off base here and need to start over?

You cannot use the EVO-ONE as only a bypass unit. It's a remote starter. That GwR wire is an output not an input.

Sounds like you are trying a physical remote starter unit and not an RF-KIT. RF-Kits are nothing but an antenna and remote.

I think you might want to step back a second and look at the products you have. Specifically that audiovox unit. I have a feeling you purchased a audiovox remote starter and not an audiovox RF-Kit.

I purchased and installed the RF 30 EDP rf kit per instructions. I am still unable to get the system to funtion. I tried differnent options without success. On my last attempt, the remote start led lights as soon as the 6 pin connector is plugged in and stays on and I am unable to get it to sense the key. When I plug the evo one unit in to the flashlink, the remote start led immediately lights too whether on bypass or remote mode. Now what?

Ok, after having to take several months off from this install, I am back trying to finish it up. I currently have an Ax-One unit that I have done a master reset on and then programmed to the car. I also have an Ax-RF2 installed. I checked that the RFLF option is off, which it is and the Fortin FM is on. I did not change any other options in either the remote start or the bypass. Everything seems to be working correctly up to actually getting the remotes programmed. It seems like it does not recognize the remotes.  Any ideas on why it is not seeing the remotes? One note. The only cable I had to hook the units together was from the audiovox unit I had tried previously. I had to change the plug on the RF end and am not positive I have it done correctly as I am not sure exactly which terminal is which on the rf unit. If I look at the plug in the Ax one, the wires are from left to right red, black, green, blue. So if I look at the plug on the rf unit, should they be in that same order or opposite?

The FTX44 (or Ax-Fob2) remotes have their own antenna and cable that plug directly into the middle blue connector (B) of the evo-one. You shouldn't have to be changing wires around.

 

Start from scratch if using the ftx44 remote cable and antenna. 

• Update the remote starter to firmware 1.16. 
• Download the latest Quick Install Guide for version 1.16, This is what you will use to reset and reprogram your evo-one with the ftx44 remotes: http://fortin.ca/download/33051/evo-one-ftx-44-2w-quick-guide_vg20150520.pdf
• Follow the MASTER RESET OF ALL PROGRAMMED FUNCTIONS AND REMOTES on page 2. (sorry for caps, i copy pasted from the guide)
• Follow the PROGRAMMING REMOTE TRANSMITTER(S) on page 1.
• if you cannot enter programming, follow the ENTER/EXIT VALET MODE on page 4.  

 

Doing this will start you from scratch in the remote starter settings and will not reset the bypass portion of the evo-one. I would suggest a reset of the bypass also but it shouldnt be needed.

I followed your steps exactly, but still am not able to get it to recognize the remotes. I double checked that it is on version 1.16, turned of valet, did the master reset and remote transmitter programming. Did these steps 3 times. When I plug in the antenna, the led on it will come on and then flash once then go off, so I know it is getting power, but its like it is not communicating with the evo-one. Any other ideas?

Called and talked to tech. Decided may have a bad rf kit. So purchased new FTX64-2W kit. Did master reset on remote start and then tried programming the remotes. Acted exactly like the previous rf kit did. The tech said in the programming sequence, after the brake pedal is pushed once, the blue light on the antenna should be on ready to receive input from the remotes. I am not getting the light to come on. So apparently the rf kit is not the problem. Any other ideas?

Silly question but, is the black wire of the 20-pin connector connected to the vehicles brake signal? If the led is not flashing when pressing the brake, the unit is most likely not seeing a brake press.

I am going to say no, it is not. I used the T harness and that is not one of the connections that is indicated that needs to be made. Its been a while since I did the actual install so will have to check for sure. Is this a required connection when using the RF Kit?

That brake connection will be needed, not only for remote programming but also for proper remote start operation and security. I don't see it in the guide either, it should be there and will be added on the next update.

Make sure your yellow wire in the 20 pin connector, is connected to the pink wire in the tharness.

If it's not, this is why your brake signal does not work.

Ok, hooked up the black wire to brake and was able to program the remotes. Thank you Robert T. I have another question though. The vehicle would crank but not start. So I checked the programming and found the module was not programmed correctly. I selected the correct options and it starts fine now. In the installation documentation, it said on some vehicles it may be necessary to unlock doors first to deactivate factory alarm and relock after starting to reactive factory alarm. So while I was programming, I went ahead and turned this option on in both the bypass and remote start. My question is this. When vehicle is started remotely, I am unable to unlock or lock the doors with the factory remote while it is under control of the remote start. To enter car if locked, I have to deactivate remote starter and then unlock doors with factory remote. Is this normal for this set up, or do I need to de-activate those unlock and relock options in the bypass and remote start?

Most vehicles the oem remotes do not work while the engine is running. This would also happen on remote start.

Your aftermarket remotes have lock-unlock buttons on them. Wire up the EVO lock-unlock outputs to the vehicle and you will be able to lock-unlock your doors freely with the aftermarket remotes.
