2013 F150 w/ Factory Remote start, adding aftermarket remote starter?

+1 vote
Customer has 2 way compustar from previous car. And his new ride is 2013 F150.

The truck comes with factory remote starter 4 buttons keyfob. But he wants to put his 2 way compustar(confirmation and longer range).

Can this be done if followed by Evoall installation guide #3318, connection #4 and programming #5?

1 more question. getting lock/unlock wire from BCM at pass kick panel is not a problem but Evoall doesn't support lock/unlock? or Arm/diarm from Evoall will control lock/unlock?

Hi Leo,

Unlike Toyota, you should not have problem adding a remote starter to the existing system. Connections are as you said in guide 3318 connection 4 and programming 5. If using a firmware above 70.06, do not use the door pin connection written in that guide using the red connector of the EVO, please use the door pin connection written in this guide : EVO-ALL & THAR-FOR1 (T-Harness) & Ford - Revision 20131217

Lock and Unlock cannot be controlled via the Can-Bus.

The only way to disarm the F150 is by pulsing ignition/accessory and transponder at the same time. Arm is a tuff one. In order to arm, we first need to disarm then open the driver door pin while doing lock. This is all controlled by the EVO when folling the installation guide.

Is there a pink other than 20 pin connector?

In both guides, showing pink as a tach. Or did you mean to say green as a door pin?

That sounds not complicated. wire up lock/unlock from remote starter, and evoal will arms/disarms anyway.

Or should I just purchase t harness and follow guide #10911?

Corrected my failed grammar. I meant Pin not Pink.

To arm the car, we must open the door trigger wire before Lock is sent.

With firmware 4.18 we do that using the Connections to the RED connector in the guide 3318. With Ford firmware 70.XX we actually open the trigger using the Green/White and Green/Red in the 20pin connector, as written in the guide 10911

That sounds not complicated. wire up lock/unlock from remote starter, and evoal will arms/disarms anyway.

The sequence to properly Arm needs to have the EVO-ALL connected to the vehicles lock wire, not the remote starter. The remote starter unlock wire is the only one that you will connect to the car.

Or should I just purchase t harness and follow guide #10911?

T-harness is handy so that you do not have to do main ignition connections (acc/ign/start) and also Tx and Rx. The rest of the connections such as doorlocks and door pin will be required.

I checked and bypass is 4.18, means I only have to follow exactly what it says on both guides?

With 4.18 you can follow the original guide 3318 from A to Z.

My concern was only in the case that a later version was being used. If you are indeed planning on using a Tharness though, the latest ford firmware would then be required.

Thank you so much!!
My pleasure !
All,

would the same apply here?

already running a Fortin unit and SmartStart by Viper to remote start 2013 f150. However, want the HVAC features the factory ford remote start provides. If I activate this (OEM remote start in truck by ford) can I use the Fortin unit to talk to the OEM remote start unit so that I can still use the SmartStart module?
