Honda SL3 loss program 3X in 2 months

0 votes
I installed Compustart CS800S and Honda SL3 onto my 2005 CRV about two months ago, during two months, I had to re-program SL3 three times. 1st time it happens when I was inside the car testing the remote start, when the car starts cranking (but did not run as of yet), I insert the key into ignition and after that, it stopped working (it will crank but won't start and key symbol flashes on dash), I figure I put the key in during cranking caused the module to loose the program so I reporgram and all was ok.

few weeks later, It happens again but I did not do anyting this time, so, I find it to be odd but again, I reprogrammed it and was ok.  It happend again two weeks after, I am thinking the module is faulty, I see no reason why I had to do this over and over again, all wiring were soldered and I checked it again today. Any input?? Thanks in advance.

2 reasons.

If battery is not at 12.4V while programming the encryption will be no good.

Cut the blue and white wires in the datalink.

My battery is fairly new and I checked it anyway and is good.  You are saying the 4 wires @ the datalink, cut the blue and white wires and just tape it off?

I will try it but can you explain why to cut off the two wires? I am not able to locate this info anywhere. Thanks again.
It's to prevent datalink communication between the remote starter and the honda-sl3. You don't need datalink in this setup.
OK, thanks. I already did what you suggest and will give tme to see how it goes.
Hello, I have a similar problem with a 2006 Civic Hybrid and Honda SL-3. Remote start works fine for about two weeks, then loses its programming and fails. The car cannot be started until the module is disconnected or reprogrammed. I tried cutting the data-link wires but the bypass module failed again. Any other suggestions?

Modules do not reset by themselves. They simply can't. What brand remote starter is also installed in this vehicle?

What could be happening though is the following.

  1. Improper datalink communication
  2. Weak battery (lower than 12.4V with ignition On but car not started)
  3. The remote starter is actually not activating the Honda-SL3 via the (-)Ground-while-running input. The RED LED on the Honda-Sl3 needs to be turning on on every attempt of remote start. Verify that it is indeed turning on.
