DEI Smartstart DSM 350 and EVO-GMT4

+1 vote
I have the EVO-GMT4 RS installed on my 2008 Chevy Avalanche. I wanted know if the DEI Smartstart DSM 350 module would work with my install and vehicle? If so, what would be the procedure to install it?

Thanks,

Chuck

We have a specific guide on how to connect the Viper SmartStart to the evo-all, this can be found in our RF kit's page,here: http://ca.fortin.ca/en/technology/rf_kits.html just select Viper SmartStart in the dropdown menu and select the evo-all&smartstart guide.

Thank you,

Awesome! Many thanks! Looks very simple actually. I will install sometime today and see what happens.

please pay attention to the way you connect both pieces together, the red and black wires on both connectors MUST LINE up.

Thank you,
Got a question about the connections. While the installation guide states to ground the gray wire as shown in step 8, does the actual 2-pin (red and black) connector go to anything or does it stay unconnected?

Chuck
I believe it does not get connected as the module gets its power and ground from the evo through the 4 pin connector.
I went ahead and installed the smartstart module to the evo-all without connecting the 2-pin connector and all is well. Once I activated the account, everything was tested and my system starts/locks/unlocks successfully.

What I did have issues with was using my RF remote antenna (FTX64-2W). I initially installed the smartstart module with my RF antenna connected and neither would work. I disconnected the antenna and the smartstart worked. I went back to using my OEM remotes until I can figure this out.

Can the RF antenna work along with smartstart? If so, please advise as to wiring.

Chuck
no it will not work with both, one or the other.
